Detailed review

My opened Starbucks movement inspection

In this review, I inspect the exposed movement of my VSF-attributed Submariner Date 126610LV Starbucks sample and weigh its detached caseback. The useful addition is the view beneath the back: the rotor bearing, balance-area controls, engraving and coloured components that I use when assessing a movement. The recording starts with the back already removed; it does not demonstrate the opening procedure.

If you have a Starbucks movement photograph and want help understanding which details it actually shows, message me through the existing WhatsApp button. I can help you separate a visible feature from an identification claim that needs further evidence.

What this inspection establishes

- I identify the movement as Dandong 3235, commonly called DD3235 or VS3235. The opened movement and a 3235 marking are visible; the manufacturer attribution remains my assessment.
- The detached caseback weighs approximately 9.9 g in this sequence. The display shows about 9.92–9.93 g while I handle the scale; this is a sample observation with measurement limitations.
- I discuss a 27-ball rotor bearing, the position of a gold-coloured adjusting arm, an engraving beginning with 1S and red component colours. These cues do not all have the same evidential strength.
- I confirmed the sample's 126610LV reference separately for this article. The rear-facing footage alone does not establish that reference, and my phrase “third-generation green Submariner” does not establish a numbered VSF factory version.

This is a replica sample corresponding to the Submariner Date 126610LV design. Its Oyster-style bracelet is visible from the back. I do not establish a manufacturing batch, or whether it is the same physical watch as the samples in my earlier Starbucks reviews.

The detached caseback: approximately 9.9 g

At 1:45–1:51, I weigh the back by itself and describe the result as 9.9 g. The visible display varies around 9.92–9.93 g during the handled sequence. This is different from the complete-watch measurement in my Starbucks weight, caliper and clasp review.

The scale is held and tilted rather than documented on a stable, level surface. There is no calibration-weight check, and the recording does not establish the instrument's accuracy. I therefore retain the approximate reading rather than presenting hundredths of a gram as a certified specification.

In my commentary, I describe the caseback and other components as characteristic of the VSF supply chain. That is my professional assessment. This weighing does not prove alloy composition, exclusive sourcing or factory origin, and I would not use a matching caseback mass alone to authenticate another watch.

Reading the exposed movement, one cue at a time

The open view supplies more useful identification evidence than a closed-back factory label. My Dandong 3235 knowledge page provides the broader movement context; here I focus on what this recording adds.

Rotor bearing, 3:01–3:18. I point at the central bearing and describe it as containing 27 balls. The bearing ring is visible, but this inspection does not include an independently verified ball-by-ball count. I preserve 27 as my spoken identification detail, not as a newly measured specification or evidence of a particular whole-watch generation.

Balance-area controls, 3:19–3:51. I discuss two adjusting features and the position of a gold-coloured arm, contrasting it verbally with a Shanghai 3235 arrangement. Rate adjustment and beat adjustment are different functions; the casual word “pins” in my commentary should not imply that every visible control performs the same job. My right-versus-left description follows the orientation used in the recording. There is no Shanghai movement alongside this one for a matched comparison, and rotating a photograph changes its apparent directions. I would not identify a movement from “gold arm on the right” alone.

Engraving, 3:52–4:08. I say the movement engraving begins with 1S and comment on its clarity. The engraving area is shown, but the pointer and angle limit independent reading of the complete prefix. The article therefore records 1S as my spoken assessment, without inventing a full serial or claiming that an engraving proves manufacturing origin.

Colour, 4:09–4:35. I describe dark red or vermilion “jewel bearings” and contrast them with other movements from experience. The camera shows reddish components, including a red-rimmed wheel near the pointer. A coloured wheel is not interchangeable with a pivot jewel: this footage does not establish that every red component I indicate is a jewel. Lighting, reflections and component selection also limit the comparison. I would not turn the colour description into a material identification or a universal DD-versus-SH test.

Why I combine clues rather than promise a single test

A community guide to DD, SH and VR 32xx identification discusses several structural cues and the limitations of relying on one feature as variants change. That is useful community context, not an authenticated factory registry or independent verification of this sample.

For another watch, I would first request a clear overall movement view, then close views of the bearing, balance area and engraving in a consistent orientation. My recording supports a DD3235 assessment; it does not justify an unconditional authentication rule. It also contains no timed power-reserve run, timegrapher result, pressure test or controlled long-term reliability evidence.

Strengths

Opened movement, rotor and balance views, engraving-area inspection and detached-caseback reading with explicit limitations.

What to watch for

No independent factory provenance, verified27ball count, complete1S reading, calibrated mass, matchedSH comparison, reserve run or authenticated batch.

Questions answered

Does a 27-ball bearing or 1S engraving prove that a Starbucks is VSF?

No. In this review, 27 and 1S are details I state while inspecting one opened sample. The bearing and engraving area are visible, but neither detail is independently established here as an exclusive factory signature. Combine clear structural evidence with the sample's documented provenance, and keep movement identification separate from whole-watch factory or batch attribution.
