My VSF Panda Daytona: Can Weight and Pusher Feel Identify the Movement?

I check a VSF Panda showing 144.87 g and a 38.8 mm bezel reading, explaining why weight and pusher feel cannot verify a free-sprung DD4131.

Detailed review

Three exterior clues and an identification claim

In this review, I test three exterior clues I have used when discussing a VSF Panda Daytona described as free-sprung: assembled weight, bezel diameter and chronograph-pusher feedback. The useful addition is a clear scale display and a specific identification claim that needs limits. These checks document the watch in my hands; they do not reveal its regulating system.

If you are comparing a similarly labelled Panda, message me on WhatsApp through the existing page button. I can help you separate a readable measurement from an unverified movement claim.

144.87 g on the display, 144.8 g in my narration

After introducing the scale, I place the watch on its platform with the Oyster-style bracelet, clasp and protective film attached. At 1:20 and again at 1:25, the display reads 144.87 g with my hands away. My narration reports 144.8 g. I retain the display and spoken figure separately, without treating either as a specification for every VSF Panda.

I also recall an earlier version weighing 138 g, explicitly from memory. No corresponding earlier watch is weighed here. Fitted link count, film mass and scale calibration are undocumented, so this is not evidence of a measured increase caused by a new movement. Readings while I touch or lift the watch are not additional stable mass measurements.

My previous labelled-sample function and weight review had partly obscured scale digits. This recording provides a clearer display, but continuity of the physical watch across recordings is unconfirmed. My earlier Panda measurement review remains a separate setup, not a controlled comparison.

38.8 mm refers to the bezel check

I show the caliper at zero before placing its jaws across the bezel area. At approximately 1:56, the display reads 38.8 mm; my narration repeats that figure while I reposition the tool. This is the bezel-area measurement in the shown contact arrangement, not a case-body diameter or a factory tolerance. A moving-jaw display is not another finished dimension.

The white dial, dark subdial rings, black tachymeter bezel with a metallic surround and three-piece-link bracelet correspond visually to the Daytona 126500LN design. I do not inspect a reference engraving or open the caseback in this recording.

Why I would not authenticate the movement by its click

From roughly 2:14 to 3:00, I handle the chronograph pushers and describe their feedback as crisp, with a distinct mechanical click. That is my handling assessment. The footage preserves the operation, but contains no measured actuation force, acoustic comparison, blinded identification test or internal inspection linking that sensation uniquely to a movement.

My spoken conclusion calls this an exact identification method. That is too strong for the evidence shown: weight, bezel size and pusher feedback together still cannot authenticate factory origin or establish a genuinely free-sprung balance. I attribute the watch to VS Factory and Dandong DD4131; those remain attributions here. No numbered factory version or verified batch is established.

A community discussion about newer VSF free-sprung claims contains conflicting version and architecture assertions. It explains why buyers ask for clarification; it does not resolve the internals of this closed-case sample. For the different evidence an internal view supplies, see my opened Panda balance-layout comparison.

Strengths

Clear assembled scale display, caliper contact context and pusher handling linked to a specific identification question.

What to watch for

No opened movement or authenticated version. Recalled earlier mass is untested; pusher feel cannot identify architecture. Fitted links, calibration and measurement tolerance unknown.

Questions answered

Can a 144.8 g weight and crisp pushers prove that a Panda has the newer free-sprung DD4131?

No. This recording shows a 144.87 g scale display, a spoken 144.8 g figure, a 38.8 mm bezel-area reading and my pusher-feel assessment. None exposes the balance or authenticates manufacturing origin. An internal examination and evidence specific to the offered watch are needed to assess the movement claim.
