Detailed review

What I measure on this black-dial sample

In this review, I put a VSF-attributed black-dial Daytona on a scale and use a digital caliper to check its bezel diameter and thickness. The useful evidence is the measurement sequence itself: what the display shows, where I position the instrument, and what those numbers can establish about this particular watch.

If you are comparing measurements of a similar Daytona, message me through the WhatsApp button on this page. I can help you check whether the bracelet setup and measuring points are comparable before interpreting a difference.

What the measurements show

- Weight: the scale shows 142.60 g at about 01:26, with 142.61 g visible earlier. My supplied English subtitle says 142.5 g. I retain that discrepancy rather than silently treating the spoken figure as the display reading.
- Bezel diameter: 38.8 mm is visible at about 02:06, with the jaws positioned across the bezel area. This is the measurement I describe as bezel diameter, not a replacement for nominal case size.
- Thickness: 12.0 mm is visible at about 02:21 and agrees with my spoken figure. The display also changes as I reposition the caliper; the sequence does not establish a manufacturing tolerance.

The watch has a black dial, contrasting counter rings, black tachymeter bezel and an Oyster-style three-piece-link bracelet. Its visible design corresponds to the 126500LN Daytona configuration. I identify it as VS Factory with a Dandong 4131 movement in the recording. The caseback stays closed, so this review supplies measurement evidence, not an internal movement identification.

Reading the scale without overstating precision

At 00:59–01:38, I bring out the scale, show a zero display and place the assembled watch on its platform. Protective film remains visible, and the bracelet and clasp are attached. I lift and replace the watch during the sequence; readings while I am handling it are not settled watch-weight measurements.

The clear 142.60 g display gives a useful record of the setup shown. It does not justify claiming that every VSF black-dial Daytona weighs exactly that amount. I do not document the fitted link count or weigh the protective film separately, and no calibration weight is demonstrated. Display resolution is not a calibration certificate. For practical comparison, I would describe this recording as approximately 142.6 g in the filmed configuration, while retaining the exact visible display and the different 142.5 g subtitle in the evidence record.

Before comparing another sample, I would match bracelet length, attached components and film condition, then check the zero and allow the reading to settle. Weight alone cannot authenticate the factory, identify DD4131 or establish an undisclosed weighting material.

Why 38.8 mm is not a claim that the case is 38.8 mm

At 01:38–02:11, I zero and position the caliper, then describe the measurement specifically as bezel diameter. The 38.8 mm reading is visible when I bring the jaws across the bezel area. Jaw placement matters: measuring across the bezel, the case body or the crown and guards answers different questions.

Rolex lists the genuine black-dial 126500LN as a 40 mm model. That is manufacturer context for the genuine design, not a specification I have verified for this replica. It should not be directly compared with my bezel-area reading as though both measurements use identical endpoints.

The 12.0 mm thickness reading and its limits

At 02:11–02:44, I turn the watch sideways and check thickness. A clear 12.0 mm display appears during the inspection. Other readings, including 12.7 mm, appear as the jaws are repositioned. I do not treat every transient display as a second settled thickness result or use them to invent a 12.0–12.7 mm factory tolerance.

The footage shows a handheld inspection with protective film present. It does not document a controlled contact-force procedure or precisely standardized contact points. My comment about slight differences between batches is professional commentary; I do not measure multiple batches in this video. The defensible conclusion is that I record a 12.0 mm reading on this sample in the shown setup.

This adds measurement evidence to my black-dial Daytona chronograph and M5X clasp inspection. It does not establish a different generation or prove that the recordings show different physical watches. My weighted Daytona review concerns different configurations and is not a controlled comparison with this one.

Strengths

Traceable scale and caliper measurements with display/subtitle reconciliation and clear contact limitations.

What to watch for

No calibration-weight check, film correction, documented link count, movement opening or controlled factory comparison. Transient displays do not define tolerance.

Questions answered

Do these measurements prove a DD4131 movement or VSF origin?

No. VSF and DD4131 are my identifications in this recording, while the caseback remains closed. These measurements describe the assembled sample. For movement terminology and separate evidence, see the Dandong DD4131 knowledge page.

Does this show a weighted version or a new factory generation?

No weighting structure is demonstrated. A Reddit discussion about weighted Daytonas illustrates why buyers ask what “weighted” means, but community explanations do not identify this watch's construction. My recording calls this the second episode of a details series; that is editorial sequencing, not evidence of a factory version. The source-folder number likewise establishes no version.
