Detailed review
What I check on this black-dial sample
In this review, I check a black-dial, black ceramic-bezel Daytona sample that I identify as VS Factory with a Dandong 4131 movement. The useful evidence here is the operation sequence: I release the screw-down pushers, start and stop the chronograph, resume it, and reset it. I also inspect the hands and show an M5X clasp marking that deserves careful interpretation alongside my earlier factory comparison.
If you are checking a similar black-dial Daytona, message me through the WhatsApp button on this page. I can help you identify the operation footage and clasp details worth requesting for your specific watch.
What this sample establishes
- Configuration: black dial, contrasting subdial rings, black tachymeter bezel and a three-piece-link Oyster-style bracelet. The visible design corresponds to the 126500LN generation; this is design correspondence, not authentication of an engraved reference.
- Factory and movement: I identify VS Factory, commonly called VSF, and Dandong 4131, commonly abbreviated DD4131. I do not open the caseback in this recording.
- Direct evidence: short chronograph control sequences and an M5X marking on the clasp. These are observations of the watch in front of me, not specifications for every VSF example.
- Limits: no measured timing accuracy, extended counter test, power-reserve run, weight measurement or pressure test. The folder suffix is not evidence of a numbered factory version.
Rolex's black-dial 126500LN reference page supplies the genuine design terminology. It does not verify the construction or movement supplier of this replica sample. My earlier Daytona movement and configuration review explains why a newer exterior should not be treated as proof of a particular movement.
The chronograph sequence: more useful than a reset photograph
At 3:31–3:49, I explain the two pushers and release their screw-down collars. At 3:50–4:08, I use the upper pusher to start, stop and resume the central chronograph seconds hand. At 4:08.5–4:29, I demonstrate the lower reset control after stopping, then repeat a short operating sequence.
The central hand visibly moves away from its reset position during the demonstration and returns toward the 12 o'clock marker after reset. That supports a narrow but useful conclusion: these controls operate through the short sequences shown on this sample. I would not describe the footage as a precision alignment measurement, an endurance test or proof that every elapsed-time counter performs correctly over a full cycle.
One detail I look for is the distinction between the central chronograph hand and the running seconds at 6 o'clock. The central hand can remain stopped while the watch is running. The other two subdials are the elapsed-minute counter at 3 and elapsed-hour counter at 9; this brief demonstration does not establish their accuracy over 30 minutes or 12 hours.
For the genuine Daytona, Rolex's operating guide describes the upper pusher as start/stop and the lower as reset after stopping. I follow that stop-before-reset sequence here. The manufacturer's instructions explain the genuine control layout; they are not independent verification of this sample's internal architecture.
A related RepTimeQC discussion asks for start/stop/reset footage when a photograph leaves the chronograph hand's alignment uncertain. That is a useful buyer question, not a verdict on my watch. For your own QC, I recommend a square-on view and an uninterrupted control sequence, so reflections, camera angle and a moving hand are not mistaken for a reset fault.
M5X on this clasp: a descriptor, not a factory certificate
At 3:03–3:19, I inspect the internal clasp engravings. M5X is clearly visible beside the STEELINOX marking. I also discuss the shapes and finish of the engraved lettering. My comments about crisp opening and tactile feel are handling assessments, not a measured durability result.
This matters because my earlier VSF vs Clean Daytona comparison records M5X in the Clean discussion and a different visible marking on the VSF comparison sample. Here, M5X appears on the watch I identify as VSF. I retain both records with their sample attributions. The footage does not establish why the markings overlap, a supplier change, a production date or a new version.
What I recommend checking is the whole clasp and bracelet: the recorded marking, engraving, edge finish, closing action and the actual configuration being offered. A code alone cannot authenticate the factory, establish the alloy or identify the movement behind a closed caseback.
Dial, hands and material claims: keep the evidence separate
The close views show a black dial with contrasting silver-tone counter rings, polished hands and a black bezel whose appearance changes under reflections. At 2:08.5–2:29, I describe the main hands as smoothly finished and free of burrs. Treat that as my inspection assessment under the recorded light; the video is not a microscopic edge examination or a tolerance study.
I describe the watch as using 904L steel, a sapphire crystal and a fired ceramic bezel. Those are my stated material identifications. Appearance alone does not verify alloy composition, crystal composition or the bezel's manufacturing process. Likewise, the clasp segment includes a spoken reference to chamfered “lugs” while the clasp is in view; I do not use that ambiguous wording as evidence of a separate inspection of all four case lugs.
Near the end, I demonstrate crown handling and explain closing the crown and pusher collars. I also make a 50-metre water-resistance claim in the narration. No pressure test is shown, so I cannot turn that statement into a verified swimming recommendation for this watch. Screwing down the controls is not a substitute for a suitable test of the individual sample.

Strengths
Traceable short chronograph sequences and a clear M5X clasp view add sample evidence.
What to watch for
No opened movement, extended counter, calibrated alignment, timing accuracy, endurance, reserve or pressure test. Material and DD4131 identifications remain attributed.

Questions answered
Does this video verify that the movement is DD4131?
I identify it as Dandong 4131, but the caseback remains closed. The operation footage supports the functions shown; it does not independently establish the movement manufacturer or internal construction. Use the existing Dandong DD4131 movement page alongside actual opened-movement evidence when identification is the question.
Does M5X prove this is Clean rather than VSF?
No. This recording shows M5X on my VSF-attributed sample, while my earlier comparison discusses that code with Clean. Both are scoped records. Neither the code alone nor an unexplained overlap establishes factory origin or a version change.
What remains unchecked after a short reset demonstration?
Longer elapsed-time counter operation, timing accuracy, repeated-cycle reliability and water resistance remain untested here. A short successful sequence is useful evidence of the demonstrated controls, but it cannot answer those separate questions.
