Detailed review

Opened-movement evidence and the scale discrepancy

In this review, I inspect the exposed movement of a VSF GMT-Master II Batman sample. I focus on the rotor bearing, a 3285 engraving, a movement-code area, gold-coloured gearing and a dark-red wheel. These are useful places to photograph; the recording does not establish a universal authentication test for every Dandong 3285 or VSF batch.

There is also a directly checkable discrepancy: the detached caseback sits on a scale displaying 7.06 g, while the supplied English text and embedded subtitle say 7.7 g. I retain the displayed reading as the observation here. Calibration and tare are not documented, and the reading is not a factory specification.

If you're considering this VSF Batman configuration and want help checking the movement or a particular sample, you can contact me directly using the page's WhatsApp button.

What this sample establishes

- The watch is already open at the start. The caseback-removal procedure is not shown.
- The front view shows a blue/black bezel, black dial, blue GMT hand and an Oyster-style three-piece-link bracelet. Batman is appropriate terminology for this configuration; Batgirl normally denotes the Jubilee-bracelet counterpart.
- The configuration corresponds to the 126710BLNR design. I identify this sample as VS Factory, or VSF, with Dandong 3285, or DD3285. This is my identification; neither the reference engraving nor manufacturing provenance is independently authenticated.
- The rotor bearing, 3285 marking and surrounding movement structure are visible. The claimed 27-ball count and YE prefix require separate qualification.
- No exact factory version, production date, GMT-setting test, timing-machine result or timed power-reserve run is established in this episode.

Rolex's 126710BLNR Oyster documentation confirms the genuine design's blue/black bezel and three-piece-link Oyster bracelet. That reference context does not transfer genuine materials, precision or movement specifications to this replica sample. My earlier VSF Batgirl review covers a Jubilee configuration and a setting demonstration; this episode adds detailed movement-identification commentary and a separately weighed caseback.

Five identification cues, with their limits

Rotor bearing, 02:00–02:35. I point directly at the rotor's central bearing and describe an upgraded arrangement. The subtitle's “27-jewel ball bearing rotor” should be understood as a claim about 27 bearing balls, not a verified 27-jewel movement specification. A ring of bearing elements is visible, but I do not independently count all 27 or establish when a change entered production in this recording. I also do not measure rotor noise or winding efficiency. Do not turn this passage into a confirmed V2/V3 or latest-batch designation.

3285 engraving, 02:35–02:44. A close view shows the 3285 marking beside the rotor and balance area. This is a reproducible visual observation. An engraved calibre number alone does not establish which movement factory made the mechanism, nor does it authenticate the watch.

Movement-code area, 02:44–03:20. In my explanation I point beside the balance and refer to a YE prefix. The inspected close-up does not clearly substantiate that prefix as written in the English text. I therefore retain YE as a stated cue in my explanation, not as a verified reading or a required prefix for all VSF production. A sharp photograph of the actual inscription is more useful than repeating a translated code from memory.

Gold-coloured gearing, 03:20–03:52. I direct attention to the gold-coloured wheel area and explain a distinction between Shanghai and Dandong movements. Only one opened watch is inspected in this passage; it is not a matched teardown of independently identified SH3285 and DD3285 samples. Camera orientation changes what appears on the left or right. The recording supports documenting the component layout, but not a rule that a gold-coloured wheel by itself identifies Dandong.

Dark-red wheel, 03:52–04:28. Tilting the watch exposes a reddish wheel alongside the gold-coloured gearing. I use its darker red appearance as my fifth cue. The colour is visible under the recorded light; its diagnostic uniqueness, material and suitability for distinguishing every movement variant are not established. Colour alone is a weak basis for an identification decision.

Taken together, these views preserve this sample's layout and my identification reasoning. They do not demonstrate parts interchangeability, long-term reliability or manufacturing origin. The DD3285 movement evidence page provides the broader context without treating every watch carrying the same label as identical.

The caseback measurement: read the display, preserve the disagreement

At approximately 01:43–01:45, the detached caseback is resting on the scale without my hand pressing it. The display reads 7.06 g. The nearby 7.7 g subtitle is inconsistent with that image; both records remain distinguishable rather than silently substituting one for the other.

This is the caseback alone, not the watch head or complete watch. The scale's printed resolution is not proof of calibration, and no documented tare procedure or repeatability series is supplied. The reading cannot establish alloy, production tolerances or factory identity. Later readings while I touch and lift the caseback should not be used as its resting mass.

What community identification discussions add

A RepTime guide by a movement-inspection contributor compares several features together, including bridge details, pallet-jewel position, hairspring direction and regulator layout. Its discussion also addresses changing variants and fuller rotor-bearing arrangements. These are community observations and terminology, not independent authentication of the watch in this video.

The useful question is whether clear views of the actual movement support several consistent identification cues. A rotor description, inscription or colour isolated from the rest of the movement is insufficient for a confident origin claim. DD3285 remains my identification of this sample, supported by the recorded views but without independent manufacturing-origin verification.

For a watch you are considering, I recommend requesting a well-lit movement overview, unobstructed balance-area and marking photographs, and a view of the rotor-bearing and winding-wheel areas. If GMT operation or timekeeping matters, request a separate functional demonstration and properly documented timing results; neither follows from a still image. Use a competent watchmaker for opening and resealing if needed, and do not infer water resistance from a refitted caseback.

Questions answered

Does this video show the caseback being opened?

No. The caseback is already removed when the recording begins. The exposed movement, detached caseback and subsequent weighing are shown, but the removal procedure is not documented.

Do the five cues prove that every similar movement is DD3285?

No. They document one sample and my identification method. Engravings, rotor-bearing descriptions and colour observations need to be considered with the complete movement layout and the relevant variant. The YE prefix is not independently confirmed in the inspected close-up.

Was the caseback measured at 7.7 g?

The English text says 7.7 g, but the resting scale display reads 7.06 g around 01:43–01:45. I report the displayed sample reading and retain the subtitle discrepancy. Calibration, tare and a factory-wide tolerance are not established.

Is this Batman or Batgirl, and which version is it?

The blue/black GMT shown has an Oyster-style bracelet, so Batman is the appropriate configuration name. Its visual design corresponds to 126710BLNR. No exact VSF generation or production batch is reliably established; the rotor-upgrade statement is not sufficient to assign one.
